We require all clients considering The Birth Center at LWC for their maternity care to come to our informative Childbirth Seminar. It is necessary for you to register, so if you are not already registered, please call 610.525.6086 to do so.
A four-week course required for first-time mothers and their partners, this course is currently offered only to clients of The Birth Center at LWC. This class covers the anatomy and physiology of labor and birth, natural pain coping strategies, unexpected outcomes and birth technology, postpartum issues and newborn care.
Class will be held on one Saturday per month from 8am to 4pm. This course is currently offered only to clients of The Birth Center at LWC. This option is exclusively for clients who cannot attend the series due to extreme scheduling conflicts; trying to absorb all of the information in one sitting is not optimal. This series cost also includes Focus on Breastfeeding and the First Days at Home Class on additional dates.
A one-session, required for first-time breastfeeders and partners, class offering detailed information on breastfeeding. Proper latch, positioning, nutrition, bonding and related issues are covered. Designed for both mother and partner (two can remember better than one!). Please remember to bring your New Beginnings Book (found in your binder) to your Breastfeeding Class.
This one-session class, required for first time parents, and highly recommended to experienced parents that are new to birth center care, is designed to provide specific education regarding the early care of yourself and your newborn from the time you leave The Birth Center at LWC until your Home Visit. We will review some newborn care, normal newborn behavior, and taking Mom’s and baby’s vital signs. in the early postpartum period. Please remember to bring your New Beginnings Book (found in your binder) to your First Days at Home class.
This ten-session course, which can be taken in place of LWC’s Preparation for Childbirth course series, is a combination Birth Education and Mindfulness class, in which couples learn and practice mindfulness skills together, to support them in birth, parenting, and life.
A one-session class, required for first-time mothers and their partners who have taken childbirth preparation classes outside of The Birth Center at LWC. This course is currently offered only to clients of The Birth Center at LWC. This class covers our protocols and policies, the roles of nurses and midwives, hospital care if needed, and postpartum care. Scheduled on an as-needed basis.
A one-session class for mothers and their partners who have already experienced childbirth but would like a chance to refresh their memory. This course is currently offered only to clients of The Birth Center at LWC. In this class, we review the process of labor and recognizing when it starts. An overview of natural pain-coping techniques is explored, as well as the role of nurses and midwives, The Birth Center at LWC policies, hospital transfer if necessary, and your postpartum stay. Sibling adjustment is discussed. It’s a great way to connect with other LWC parents, offer your ideas and possibly get some new ones.
The healing circle provides a safe place for women to share their stories, begin healing, remove emotional scars, and celebrate themselves as birthing women. By use of visualization techniques and symbolism participants will find common ground and support while sharing their own unique birth stories in an environment that is supportive and understanding.
LWC offers personalized care and attention to women and couples who experience these difficult losses. Our providers who support this area are not only trained but also utilize local and community resources for in order to offer the most comprehensive, ongoing support.
All women are welcome to join LWC at our bi-weekly breastfeeding support groups. There is no need to make an appointment.
